... twenty questions, that is. Good thing too... sometimes I need the prompt to get me writing. (Well, not exactly accurate - if you count consulting deliverables and RFPs, I've churned out almost 400 pages of text in the last two weeks!)
In any case, Henry tagged me so I'm rising to the occasion.
Here are the rules (yes, rules!)
A) People who have been tagged must write their answers on their blogs & replace any question that they dislike with a new question. (note, you’ll need to pull the list of questions from Henry's post above if you want to see which one I switched out)
B) Tag 8 people to do this quiz.
1.How many songs are on your iPod?
2841 as of this morning... plus two movies, about a dozen random Lost, Gossip Girl, and Grey's Anatomy episodes, and a few stray podcasts.
2. What music would you want played at your funeral?
Definitely American Pie... it was the first song I ever heard (#1 song in America and playing on the radio as my parents drove me home) and is a bit of a theme song. I've always liked something Lennon-esque like Let It Be (although I think Instant Karma is more my speed). And in true hostess/party planner style, I'm much more concerned about the playlist for wake because I'd want everyone to adjourn to my home and work their way through my wine cellar, eat some amazing food, and focus on the goodness of life and all the amazing fun I had on this earth.
3.What magazines do you have subscriptions to?
At the moment just US Weekly. Yes, I'll fess up. It saves me the embarrassment of paying full price every week at the airport newsstand because there is no way I can stay away from the train wreck. And somehow I let my Vanity Fair subscription lapse which is a bummer because I love the writing. At a high point last year, I had subscriptions to almost two dozen magazines. Now I just buy issues as I need them although I still easily pick up well over a dozen a month (Martha Stewart Living, Real Simple, Elle, Vogue, cooking magazines, an occasional travel magazine).
4. What is your favorite scent?
I gravitate to blends of food aromatics - vanilla, coconut, brown sugar, lime, almond, cherry, pomegranate, and my new favorite of fig.
5. If you had a million dollars that you could only spend on yourself, what would you do with it?
I'd take a year or two off to travel in grand style, inviting a select friends to join me here and there along the way.
6. What is your theme song?
See #2 - American Pie, definitely. Or the one I WISH could be my theme song - Carl Carlton's "She's a Bad Mama Jama".
7. Do you trust easily?
Yes and no. I am pretty cynical but I try to fight it so as a result I try to override the gut instinct of "I should NOT trust this person" that I sometimes get instantly. And as a result, kick myself later when I knew I shouldn't have trusted them. My last relationship was evidence of this... and I've been burned before.
8. Do you generally think before you act, or act before you think?
People think I'm impulsive but I'm constantly running every end game scenario in my head so that when I have to make a quick decision, its not as impulsive as it seems. One of the few things I learned at the Evil Empire that has served me well - always think through the battle plan, even for the stuff you can't imagine happening.
9.Is there anything that has made you unhappy these days?
Not really... my cash flow has sucked for the last year (but that's mostly house related) and I wish I could overcome the battle between food and my body but that doesn't really make me unhappy.
10. Do you have a good body-image?
Yeah, its ironic but its better now with me being overweight and having curves where I don't want them than it was when I was a skinny teen. And its definintely better than my college years when I had a "brickhouse" body. I think its acceptance.
11. Is being tagged fun?
I don't know if I'd call it fun, but its good to have a writing prompt. Plus its fun to see what friends say in answer to the same questions.
12. How do you spend your social networking (Facebook, etc.) time?
I've pretty much sworn off MySpace as it keeps getting more difficult to deal with. I'm a Facebook addict and love checking my friend's status updates, looking at photos, and occasionally playing Packrat. I also love reading blogs.
13. What have you been seriously addicted to lately?
Catching up on shows on my TiVo - I always watch a LOT of television in September/October to figure out how to spend my watching hours. I'm playing Virtual Flights a lot. I have been into vegetarian cooking lately. Oh, and I'm gardening every weekend.
14. What kind of person do you think the person who tagged you is?
Henry is incredibly smart, a gifted writer, open hearted, sarcastically witty, caring, and open. He's an amazing guy and I only wish I knew the right woman to introduce him to!
15. What’s the last song that got stuck in your head?
Shut Up Let Me Go by The Ting Tings. And yesterday it was the version of Cities in Dust by Junkie XL (a great remake of one of my favorite Siouxsie and the Banshees songs of my youth!)
16.What’s your favorite item of clothing?
I love skirts and dresses. Always have. This season, I'm addicted to leggings (need to head out and buy a few pairs for my trip today) - they are the perfect bridge garment for spring/fall.
17. Do you think Rice Crispies are yummy?
Yeah, that's usually the cereal I grab on the hotel buffet although I can't recall the last time I bought them at home.
18. What would you do if you see saw $100 lying on the ground?
Try to find the rightful owner. Seriously. And if I couldn't, I'd consider it bad karma to spend it on myself so if I couldn't I would use it for something charitable. (Don't laugh... those who know me know I'm serious!)
19. What items could you not go without during the day?
It's rumored that I'm addicted to my Blackberry. I can neither confirm nor deny that rumor. Bottled water is a must. And I need a creative outlet every day - whether its writing or photography or art.
20. What should you be doing right now?
I desperately need to be finishing the deliverables that are due this week. Nothing like doing client work on a Saturday before leaving on a week-long business trip on a Sunday. Blech. Oh, and laundry. And possibly starting to pack.
Okay... so now its time to tag 8 people. I'm trying to decide who has time to do this in the next week or so. Here's who I think will do it... Brandy, Emily, Pam, Paula, Kip, Lesley, Jonni, and Molly - and I'll open up a #9 for whoever I didn't tag that wants to do this. Please leave me a link back in the comments so I can read your list!
Oh... the PRESSURE of complying. :)
Here's my list.

Two things:
1) You do me great service with your kind words about me. The right woman will be there for me when the time is right. Sometimes its hard for me to accept that, but I know its true.
2) I have GOT to get a copy of the Junkie XL song from you next time I'mup your way. The remix they (he? she?) did of Elvis' A Little Less Conversation some years back is an all time fave of mine.

There's an award floating around called the "I *love* your blog" award and I nominated you. It's basically a tagging thing, but you were my in my top seven favorite blogs. If you want to see you can go to my blog: www.emilyhadams.blogspot.com
